Lesson formats
Three ways to take a lesson
Lesson length and format are the first things that set tuition. Your teacher suggests the right one.
Private lessons
One student with one teacher, for 30, 45 or 60 minutes each week. Children usually start with 30.
30, 45 or 60 minutes
Any style
Shared lessons
Two students of a similar level with one teacher, for 45 or 60 minutes. Siblings, friends, or a parent and child.
45 or 60 minutes
Two students
Group classes
The Wednesday compás class, the Friday beginner class and the Saturday ensemble. Classes of up to 8, and up to 12 in the ensemble.
Wednesday, Friday and Saturday
Not made up when missed
How tuition works
We give you our figures in writing at your placement visit. Here is what sets them, and how everything else works.
Four things set tuition: the length of the lesson, whether it is private, shared or a group class, the teacher, and how many lessons a session holds. Our figures are on the enrollment page and in your placement visit, in writing.

Weekly lessons, a session at a time
Registration
A yearly registration covers your student file, the placement visit and scheduling your weekly time with a teacher. It is due when you accept the time we offer.
Billing
Tuition is billed monthly or a session at a time, through our enrollment page, by autopay or by invoice. A monthly plan covers the whole session, not only the months you attend.
Siblings
A second student in the same family is handled differently, and so is a parent or grandparent who learns beside a child. We explain how at the placement visit.
Withdrawing
Tell us in writing a month before your last lesson, by email or at the front desk. We explain what happens to a session in progress.
Missed classes and make-ups
A lesson you cancel with a day's notice is made up within the session, and a lesson your teacher cancels always is. Group classes and the ensemble are not made up.
Guitars, strings and other costs
Ask whether a guitar can be borrowed for your first weeks or rented for the session. Strings, a footstool, books and a tuner are separate, and we tell you what each is for. Our figures are on the enrollment page.
